In December 2016 I made the drive over the hill from the valley, not entirely sure what I was looking for. I found a place where the cell signal drops out but the light comes in sideways through the redwoods every afternoon, and something in me settled. I wasn’t planning to stay. I’m still here.
The valley is built to speed you up. The mountains are built to slow you down. I needed the second thing more than I knew.
What started as my own move became a habit of helping. Friends would visit, fall a little in love, and ask the same questions — where would I live, which roads are bad in winter, is the quiet really worth the commute. I knew the answers because I’d lived them. Eventually I got my license so I could do it properly.
I’m not a volume agent. I don’t paper the county with postcards or chase every listing. I work with a small number of people at a time, because finding the right home in these mountains is less about inventory and more about fit — and fit takes attention.
The Feng Shui side came later, and it surprised me. I’d always felt the difference between a house that flows and one that fights you; learning the language of qi gave me words for it, and a way to help buyers feel it before they commit. It’s not a gimmick and it’s not for everyone. But for the people it’s for, it changes how they choose.
